The new Peterborough Tool Library has launched a crowdfunding campaign offering advanced memberships to the library that include tool borrowing, discounts at local businesses, and other perks.

Endeavour Centre:

Four years ago this question seemed like a good one, with an obvious answer. The Directors of the Endeavour School along with a group of dedicated committee members worked day and night to organise, collect tools, raise funds and set up software, and in May of 2016 the Peterborough Tool Library was born!

The decision to find a new home for the Tool Library was made after the Endeavour Centre, a sustainable building school, needed to reorganize after two years of navigating the pandemic. Finding a new home where the Tool Library and its vibrant hub of volunteers could continue to grow and expand was important to the Endeavour team.

Over 40 tool libraries have been established in North America since 1979. In Ontario alone, there are tool libraries in Toronto, Ottawa, Cornwall, London, and Hamilton — and soon there’ll be one in Peterborough.
