Who can borrow tools?
Anyone who becomes a member can borrow tools out of the library. We offer individual, household and group memberships. Check out the options on the membership page.
Where do the tools come from?
Our aim is to operate with 100% community donations from people downsizing, moving, or cleaning up basements, sheds, and garages. Anything we can't find donated we will purchase with membership funds. Anything you want to donate? Shoot us an email.
How long can I borrow a tool?
The typical loan period is 7 days. Members are encouraged to return tools as soon as they are finished to keep tools available for circulation. A late fee will be charged for tools returned past the due date.
Can I borrow more than one tool at a time?
Yes! Many projects require more than one tool. We allow up to 10 tools at a time to be borrowed by a single member.
Can I reserve tools?
Tools are available on a first come, first served basis. While you cannot reserve tools in advance, you can check our up-to-date online inventory to see what’s available for your project.
What happens if I damage a tool?
Normal wear and tear of tools is inevitable and we'll discuss with you any tools that stop working while in your care. If the damage arises from neglect or improper use, members may be fined for damage to equipment. We’re sharing tools: we don’t wreck your stuff, you don’t wreck our stuff. There are more details about damaged tools on our member waiver.
What do you do with damaged tools?
Tools are cared for, fixed, cleaned, and sharpened by experienced volunteers ensuring you get a tool that is in working order. We’re always looking for tool fixers if you'd like to help out. If a tool cannot be repaired, it will be replaced.
Are you insured?
Yes. Safety and injury prevention is our number one priority. Members are required to sign waivers and must be over the age of 18.
